OAK DINING TABLE

Darren was approached to design and make a large table to sit a minimum of 14 people. The customer asked for a traditional design in two column pedestals and a centre foot rail and a large base support for the massive columns, but using modern straight lines in the overall finish appearance. Due to the length of the table being 3.6 metres and 1.1metres wide the thickness of the top had to be a minimum of 65mm to reduce the weight and quantity of timber. The middle four planks were made slimmer. The oil finish was applied to enhance the natural beauty of the European oak used, and the table was shipped out to the South of France to the customers property ready for Christmas dinner.
